new processing technology the use multy axis machining centers and tree
dimension model to prosess moulds rapidly with top quality will be discussed. The
multi axis machining described utilizes up to six controllable axes, tree
translation axes and tree rotating axes.
Multy Axes Machining Center
One of key to processing mould efficiently, maintaining high
precision and high quality, is to avoid multiple settings and installations of
the machine and workpiece. A single set prosess will reduce the errors that
arise with die changes and improve machine utilization times. The objective is
a single machine that can implement compound processing , performing in rapid
succession all tasks from rough cut to finish. Multy axis processing machines
make possible a variety of special features.
A Five axis machining center with its tree translation axes
and two rotating axes can be achieve a wider variety of tool positions than a
conventional tree axes machine, thus eliminating the need for die changes even
when processing overhangs and other complex shapes. Such machines have existed
for twenty years, but given the complex structure of five axes machining
center, they were difficult to control and were rarely used except for highly
specialized processing task. Today ,progress in design and control technology
is opening the door to many more applications. Because of the abvious
advantages of single set processing for high efficiency, high precision
machining, the industry is turning expectanly towards multy axis machining for
general use.
In conventional processing, cutting speed is often increased
by rotating both the tool and the workpiece. Where the workpice itself is
rotated, all the shape to be cut must be
round or combination of round shape, Even where it is the tool being rotated, a
corner R is inevitable. These restrictions result from the rotation. Processing
methods that eliminate these restrictions have the potential to vastly expand
the variety of shaes that can be machined.
To this end,it is proposed installing on the main axis of
machining center a non rotating tool with tree dimensional control of tool
position and location. This method requires six axis control. Because it makes cutting speed equal to feed speed,
it is not extremely efficient. However, it does produce very high quality and
is extremely useful in processing shape that cannot be achieved by rotating
tool.
The six axis machining center and a non rotatin tool. If you
disable the main axes rotating index control and limit it to ordinary rotation,
the six axis machining centre becomes a five axis machining centre. By fixing
two of rotating axis , you can use it as tree axis machine as well. But when
needed, you can achieve outstanding result using full six axis conrol.
